Is there currently a better place in Europe than Rijeka where Muses could temporarily move their summer office to? We think there isn’t, and the reason is not only that the Littoral region is the closest seaside destination to Zagreb, although just like you we want to go swimming.
Rijeka is the European Capital of Culture for 2020 and in this city this July, at the Philosophy Faculty, the UniCult 2020 Summer School is being held. It is an international programme which this year is being staged for the second time, and it is in line with European educational standards in the teaching of cultural management and cultural policies, which is sufficient to explain why we will be in the Littoral region from 4th – 17th July.
As the lecturers are successful specialists in the field of cultural management, each attendee will have their own mentor and work on their own project and in a theoretical and practical they way will learn and master new skills. That is to say that we will soon entertain you with new ideas and their presentations.
Of course, we will also enjoy this summer period in Rijeka, which reminds us of ancient Greek ideals: in this city, just like in ancient Athens, everything revolves around culture, the arts and sport. Although it’s not the Olympics, nevertheless, during our stay in Rijeka there will be the European University Games. While we’re already talking about it – what would you think that along with Euterpe, Calliope, Clio and other ancient patrons of the arts we’re also planning a muse for – sport?
